81 mm Thermobaric Mortar Bombs TB 81

NSN: 1315-50-001-2475

The Thermobaric Mortar Bomb TB 81 is intended to be used with any type of smooth bore 81 mm Mortars of NATO Standard – such as the M81MA, M1, M29A1, M29, L16 A1/A2, M8-522,   M081-61C, Tampella, ECIA IN, M8 Hirtenberger, etc., and designed for combined defeating, both by air-blast and thermal action, of enemy manpower in urban areas, fortifications, transport means, and in the open.
Upon impacting a target, the fuze AF610 gets activated and initiates the bursting charge which, in its turn, disperses the thermobaric composition TBC-2. The thermobaric composition TBC-2 interacts with the oxygen from the air; an air-fuel composition is generated which detonates from the bursting charge. A zone characterized with overpressure and intense heat is created in the area.

Overview

This Mortar Bomb is fuzed with AF610 (Point detonating, super quick action, boresafe type, muzzle safety distance 40 m).

When firing with Mortar M1 do not fire over Charge 4!

When firing with Mortar M29 do not fire over Charge 5!
